THE LATE GORDON KAPLAN By Robin Anne Joseph

THE LATE GORDON KAPLAN By Robin Anne Joseph

At her husband’s funeral, and at odds with her daughter and her rabbi, a grieving widow makes a bold decision about how her husband should be eulogized. In doing so, she grapples with the complexity of her feelings for him, for his death, and for his constant disappearances. Humorous and poignant, "The Late Gordon Kaplan" shines a light on life, death, and how we navigate our relationships along the way.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT:

Melissa Ross (Playwright, ROUSING THE HEAD) I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and later placed roots in Phoenix, Arizona, which is where I currently reside with my husband and 4 year-old daughter. In the previous century, I went to Arizona State University for an M.F.A. in Creative Writing and began producing plays across the Valley. (In 2011, I worked with the Rousing the Head cast on an evening of comedy skits.) My NYC debut was the week of September 11, 2001, at Manhattan Theatre Source. Since flights were grounded, I didn’t get to go, but the actors performed to a full house. This is when I first fell in love with the passion and grit of the city…I learned the show must always go on. Today, I find time to write poems, short stories, screenplays, and plays at odd hours, on whatever paper or computer is available, since most of my waking hours I am teaching (grading papers) at South Ridge High School and Paradise Valley Community College.
